Healthcare billing and insurance can be complex and varies based on your insurance plan. Our staff is available to help you understand your health insurance benefits and your share of the financial responsibility for the services we provide. You may call a member of our staff at (219) 756-2100, Monday through Friday 7:30 AM – 5:30 PM for an estimated cost for your services.
We accept most insurances available in our community, including Medicare and Medicaid. If you have health insurance through your employer, individual insurance marketplace or the healthcare exchanges:
Commercial insurers negotiate rates with hospitals on behalf of their members. The rates vary among insurers. Several factors can affect the amount a patient owes, including the type of plan you have, the amount your insurance benefits require you pay for co-pays, deductibles and co-insurance. Generally, the amount you pay will be less if your hospital and physicians are in-network with your health plan. Be sure you review your benefits plan to understand all of the factors affecting your financial responsibility. (e.g. deductible limit and co-insurance percentage)
For patients with Medicare & Medicaid
The government determines how much it will pay a hospital for services provided to Medicare and Medicaid patients. The government also determines a Medicare or Medicaid patient’s out-of-pocket payment amounts (deductibles and coinsurance), if any. Medicare Part A generally pays for inpatient hospital services. Some other services received in the hospital, such as physician services, and emergency and outpatient care may be paid by Medicare Part B. Medicare Advantage plans are offered by private insurance companies that are approved by Medicare to provide both Part A and Part B benefits. Medicaid programs are required to cover all inpatient and outpatient services, among other things.
For individuals who do not have insurance, carry out-of-network insurance, or who receive services their insurance does not cover:
Pinnacle Hospital offers a variety of financial assistance programs, including charity care, prompt pay discounts, and generous self-pay discounts for uninsured individuals.
Hospital charges vary from facility to facility for many reasons. The federal government requires hospitals maintain a fee schedule, known as the chargemaster, and to post the chargemaster on their website. These charges do not reflect what patients generally pay for the services they receive or represent what the hospital is actually paid in most circumstances. The chargemaster should not be used to estimate a patient’s actual cost of care or as a meaningful comparison about what hospitals are paid for their services.
We encourage all patients – regardless of insurance status – to contact us in order to obtain a cost estimate, information about our financial assistance programs, or a better understanding of their insurance coverage.
Below is a link to Pinnacle Hospital’s Chargemaster. The hospital would like to emphasize that the charges shown are not what the insurance company will pay the hospital, nor what a patient will owe for services done. Please contact us for more information.
