Daisy Award:
The Daisy Award for Extraordinary Nurses recognizes the very special work nurses do every day. It was established by the DAISY Foundation - an organization for the elimination of diseases attacking the immune system- in memory of J. Patrick Barnes.
Barnes’ parents established the foundation in their son’s memory because they had experienced firsthand the skills and compassionate care of many nurses. The award is given quarterly to outstanding nurses in more than 315 hospitals across the country. Pinnacle Hospital is proud to be among those recognized hospitals.
This award program offers patients, families, and professional colleagues a way to honor nurses for all they do. Daisy Award honorees personify the remarkable patient care experience at Pinnacle Hospital. These nurses consistently demonstrate excellence through their clinical expertise and extraordinary, compassionate care. They are recognized as outstanding role models in our nursing community.

Juan Sanchez, R.N. receives the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nursing Care at Pinnacle Hospital.

Pinnacle Hospital – a Physician Owned Hospital to host Open House
Posted: March 15, 2012 Crown Point, IN-
Have you ever wanted to go “backstage” in a surgical room? Now is your chance to do just that. The public is invited to tour the spacious operating rooms and inpatient suites, express care, talk to staff and understand how we organize for the best in patient care.
During an Open House on Friday, April 27 from 5-7pm, tours will be given by hospital staff stationed throughout the hospital lobbies. All the new and greatly enhanced features of the 63,000 square –foot facility will be explained and the questions you have always wanted to ask will be answered. Light refreshments will be served.
Leading the tours will be our Director of Surgical Services at Pinnacle Hospital since inception in 2007. “All of us look forward to welcoming residents and physicians of the community here for a tour, “says Brent Jacobus, M.D., President of the Medical Staff. “We want the community to understand and appreciate the tremendous asset they have in this facility. We pride ourselves on providing an unsurpassed customer encounter every time. When guests enter the hospital, they are greeted by the soothing sounds of a waterfall in the entry corridor, a lobby that appears to mimic the look and feel of a plush hotel, personal greeter, gourmet beverages, E-readers, decorative pieces accompanying waiting room chairs with thick cushions. The patient tracking system is displayed in waiting rooms, updating throughout surgeries enabling families to stay informed.
Also leading tours will be Patti Hart, RN, Chief Operating Officer. She says the members of our Surgical Services and Express Care staff are very excited to share information. “Patients won’t be delayed in a waiting area anymore. For example, patients are welcomed into the department by the Express Care team, who will take them to a private room and guide them through the treatment process. Working as a team is key to our success.”
Over the past three years, Pinnacle Hospital has increased the depth of services it offers to the community. As evidence of that commitment, Pinnacle Hospital has introduced Express Medical Care.
